God gave rock and roll to us...

.....but just to make sure, He also gave us Charles Aznavour. This is a guy who, to our national shame, is not well known and should be. He really is a god-like personality/talent. I just spent about 20 minutes cruising old films of him on You-tube and, I must say, marveling at his mastery of the stage and his voice. He's a singer/song writer. That seems sort of mundane in today's world where one-hit wonders rule for a season or three. He has been around, seemingly, forever. I first saw him on Johnny Carson's "Tonight Show" back in the early 60's.

Anyhow...you need to check it out. It will do you no harm....and it'll tell you where my head is at these days...

Can you guess of whom I refer? I doubt it...

God gave rock and roll to us and He also gave us.....

Mr. Upton Ogood

(be grateful)

guessing games?
Not too much of a challenge seeing as YouTube always tells you who the artist is........ BUT i didn't know him as a singer - when I saw his image I thought movies immediately...

have to say his voice isn't my cup of tea though.... shrug - but then I didn't / don't much like Frank Sinatra or any of the rat pack either....

hey what can I tell you?! not much taste in music

are you living again??

Re: guessing games?
Ah me....that's what I get for posting late in a beer fueled evening.

The question had more to do with the who in the "why a melancholy song, Upton?" than the who in who is the talent. But never mind....

As for Aznavour, he is Armenian by birth, French by choice. His primary language is French, although he has recorded in any number of languages....he is truly known world wide. So...that's for the accent thing. The earliest stuff I have of his is all French, which I don't actually speak but some which I intuit (somewhat).

Anyhow...I love the guy. He's retired now, but lives on in my memory very actively...and, yeah, I have survived the dreaded Tasmanian Munge.
